This Saturday, don't look for me at home because I'll be in the Short North Arts District at the  opening reception for the Summer Show of Art. I dropped off several of my latest paintings on Monday, 15 pieces to be precise; three are mid-size, 12 are smaller. I'm thrilled to be exhibiting with such a talented group of artists, I can't wait to see the show hanging. The show is going to be on view for three months, and pieces will be rotating on the walls - hopefully many will be leaving with happy buyers. SUMMER Show of ART at Marcia Evans Gallery 8 E Lincoln St Columbus, OH How exciting is this!? It's a pleasure to work with Marcia Evans, and the other artists are all amazing people, I'm looking forwad to getting to know them better at the reception on Saturday. Also, I'm still debating it, but I might even do a demo or paint-on-location kind of thing, towards the end of the opening. I don't know, it's going to depend on the w...

My Two Paintings in the Dublin Art League Fall Show

Image
Since when I joined the Dublin Area Art League, in 2011, I have entered two paintings in the Spring Show and two in the Fall show, every year. The great thing about a local art league is that all levels of skill and professionalism are represented, every member is encouraged and supported, and the fact that you get to show your work to the public on a regular basis, really serves as a great incentive to get better and do more. One of the best parts of being a member is the opportunity to network with like-minded people, and that's why I love attending the meetings and the show receptions, where I get the opportunity to chat with all the other artists and art lovers. Here I am next to one of my oil paintings in the Dublin Area Art League Fall Show, "It's Good to Be Home" oil on Canvas 16"x32" I recently ended my two-year term as DAAL president. During that time I got to know and enjoy this art league even more. I was also the co-chair for th...

Thanks to Powell Fitness for Featuring my Works

Image
Blessings come in many ways, and sometimes they take the form of a phone call offering an exhibit opportunity. I almost passed on this one, because the phone call came in the spring, at a time when I had way too much on my plate already, but luckily for me they persisted and emailed over the summer, and that time I said YES! : ) The Powell Fitness owner, Kim La Rosa is an energetic, fun, and inspiring person, and I am very thankful for the opportunity to have my art in her center for six months! She's celebrating the 12 year anniversary on October 20, I'm hanging that week and I'll get to be part of the celebration, how cool is that? Amazing things have been happening to me. I have to admit, I have days when I wonder do I even deserve all this goodness? But hey, it would not be fair to complain right? So here I am, embracing all the opportunities I can manage, and enjoying every bit of it. The reception/party is on Friday October 20, 2017, 6:30-9 pm, with ap...

One wall of the Dinsmore & Shohl LLP  - Legal Counsel lobby with some of my sky paintings A few months back I was contacted by a representative of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP  - Legal Counsel . She had seen my work online and asked if I could exhibit in their lobby. I went to see the space and loved it. It's a beautiful and big lobby with a nice hanging system that can fit several big paintings.   13 of my paintings are now on view in that great space. I am really excited and proud that Dinsmore & Shohl has given me this great opportunity.   My work will be on view there until the end of the year. at Dinsmore & Shohl LLP  - Legal Counsel 191 West Nationwide Blvd Columbus, OH 43215

Walks in Nature" Solo Show at Inniswood Gardens

Image
I am very thrilled that I got accepted to show at Inniswood gardens! It's an exhibit of my landscapes, 24 works in total, representing natural scenes and parks.   Yesterday there was the Meet the artist event, and I went there afraid that I would be taking home all the cookies because no one was coming, instead I came home with mostly empty trays and a huge smle on my face. Friends, fellow artists, and park visitors came to the reception, and raised a wave of love, good vibes and wonderfully kind comments on my paintings. What can I say? In three words: I am grateful. :) Here is a photo with just some of the artists friends that came to the opening From left: Mary Nordstrom, Kathy Howard, Robie Benve, Kathy Moon, and Richard Clem. To see a few more photos see the post on my fb page The show will be up until 30 September, 2016, at the Innis House "Unplanned Beauty" 9"x10" Oil on panel $190

Summer Skies Opening Reception

Image
My second solo exhibit of sky paintings is currently up at the Northwood Artspace in Columbus, OH, it will be on show until August 15th. Last weekend I had the opening reception. That's me with my husband Enzo at the Summer Skies show. It was the Friday before the 4th of July, and I was afraid that with people out of town or attending events, I was going to be there only with my close family, but thankfully we had a good turnout. I am very grateful for the opportunity to show my work and for the friends and supporters that came to the opening. Robie Benve with Diane Efsic, artists and coordinator of Northwood Artspace exhibits. Most of them did not know it, but the day after was my birthday, and their presence has been a wonderful birthday gift. There are 20 oil paintings in the show, all representing skies, sunsets, or dawns of assorted sizes. The collection has been created in the last two years from my own photos and some from friends' vacation photos. I ...

I have said it already and I am saying it again, this last year has been amazing for me. SKY HIGH - My First Solo Show

Image
My First Solo Exhibit! at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center 1-30 October 2015 My first solo show, and I am so proud of it! Who would have thought that this day will come? Yeah, maybe I did wish it was coming, but it came sooner than I thought. Yay me!!!! I look at the photos and I think "that's my work, in a gallery, and it looks great". There are many reasons for me to feel proud today, here are some. I have been able to create a body of work that stands together, with a theme and a flow. Considering how I like change and experimentation, this is quite an achievement on its own. I can't even cook the same recipe exactly the same twice, I like to tweak and change, improvise. The trick has been finding a subject matter that I really love: skies and sunsets, and how they influence the landscape. That never tires me. Plus the paintings are all a little different, even being connected by a thread. Of the five years that I've been painting, this last ye...

Featherlike - Oil Painting of a Colorful Cloud at Sunset

Image
"Featherlike" 8"x10" Oil on masonite, framed Sold Here is my painting for today, a thin and colorful cloud that seems to have been sparsed by the wind. Sometimes I have a hard time coming up with a title, but this one has been in my mind from the start. Featherlike will go to the group of paintings that will be in my solo show in October (I know, isn't that awesome??) at the Cultural Arts Center: Sky High. Here is a preview of the card for the show: I'm very excited and a little nervous about it... my very first artist reception!

Christ the Redeemer, Oil Painting

Image
"Christ the Redeemer" 11"x14" Oil on Masonite $210 As I am working on bigger paintings today for a show that is coming up, I am posting a painting that was not actually completed today, but I hadn't posted it yet. This is going to be in a show starting next week: an exhibit of works by members of the Worthington Area Art League, and I am submitting Christ the Redeemer and my Autumn Walk. There is going to be a reception on September 13, from 2-4. I'm looking forward to seeing all the artworks and meet the artists. The Church at Mill Run is at 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026 Left is how it looks framed. The other painting that I'm submitting to this show is a large acrylic landscape: "Autumn Walk" 24"30" Acrylic on canvas $650

Small Painting Exhibit In Short North UOA Gallery

Image
100 paintings under $1000 Exhibition at UOA gallery, Short North Columbus, OH Until 27 January 2014 In December I had the great opportunity to meet some very talented artists, all living and creating in the Columbus, OH area. One of them was Michael McEwan, great artist and teacher was in the process of organizing an exhibit of 100 small paintings. He personally invited the participating artists based on a wonderful criteria: they had to do good art and be nice people, not a***les. :) So I was flattered when, even if we just met, he invited me to participate in the exhibit. I have to say he chose well, all the artists that I met at the reception were super nice, and even the gallery owners are wonderful; a great match. Five paintings are mine, those with the dark square frames. They are all 6"6" oil on board, $90 The paintings in the show are a great selection of styles, showcasing painting skills of different personalities and career levels. You find things b...

Small Paintings Can Make Great Holiday Presents

Image
Thumb Box Exhibition, all art 6x6 or smaller Me at the opening Many galleries organize shows of small artwork for the Holidays. Small usually means affordable and provides a great selling opportunity as original gift. This year for the first time I am participating in two galleries that do this, and today was the opening of one exhibit, the Annual Thumb Box Show by the Ohio Art League. Vibrant Tree I - SOLD Each artist could submit up to three pieces, and I entered three of my vibrant trees, all acrylic on canvas. I attended the opening tonight and got to enjoy all the interesting art, so much great creativity and skills in such a small size art! The good news surprise was that when I got there one of my paintings had a red dot already. Neat! The exhibit will be up until the 28th of December.

Exhibiting in Local Businesses

Image
For the months of December 2013 and January 2014 I'll have some of my art on show at Edward Jones Investments in Dublin, OH. Isn't it wonderful when businesses welcome and support local artists? Some businesses in Dublin, OH open their doors and lent their walls to members of the Dublin Area Art League. We all take turns showing our creations in these great locations. Being over the Holidays I get two months in a row.  Awesome! If you walk by when the offices are closed you can still peak in, and one of my paintings (View of Tulum) is right by the window, as you can see on the left.

Enjoying Summer Vacation - Post #100

Image
"Towards the Light" 18" x 24" - Acrylic on canvas Currently showing at the "Elusive Nature" show at the Upper Arlington, OH municipal building. As every summer in the last few years I am in Italy. My Italian vacations are different from most people, I don't frantically visit cities and monuments, but I just enjoy spending time with my family. To tell the truth I feel kind of guilty spending days in total laziness, but it's so nice! We have been here six days and only today I got the feeling that "well, maybe we should do something". I'm in the town where I grew up, the neighbors are still exactly the same ones, only older. The gossip did not change much either, there is always someone cheating on the spouse, mistreating their elder parents, or just acting weird. The kids love seeing the grandparents. How comes my parents didn't spoil me growing up as they do with my kids???  lol    It's a good va...
