I Loved Serving as Judge at the Annual Congressional Art Competition for High School Students

Judging a Student Art Competition
Not an easy Task
So Much Talent!!!

I've got the great honor to be invited to serve as a judge for Artistic Discovery, the annual Congressional Art Competition.

Students grade 9-12 entered some incredible artwork, and the choice of the winning pieces was not easy. I got to share the decision making process with other two very talented judges: Frank Hobbs and George Whitten.

The entries included photography, digital painting, collage, drawing, oil painting, acrylic painting, and ceramic.

The level of talent was amazing.

This is me on my way to Congressman Tiberi's office,
for the judging.

It was a great experience to be involved in such a wonderful competition. I hope that all the young artists that participated are going to continue in their creative activity, whether or not they got recognized with a prize.
It is never easy for a judge to decide, and narrowing down all those entries to only a few top one has proven very challenging. They all deserved some sort of recognition.

At the end we came to an unanimous decision on first, second, and third place, and three honorable mentions.
The first prize winner will be exhibited in to US Capital in Washington DC for a year.
A People's choice award will be decided on social media.

Some of the entries....

I really enjoyed working in a judging panel, Frank and George made wonderful team members.

Congressman Pat Tiberi will announce the winners next week.

Hi There Luna! - Portrait of a Happy Dog

Hello, this is Luna, the very energetic dog of my family in Italy.
You never know what she's up to, it's always fun and adventure with her.

I saw a cute picture of Luna on my niece's facebook wall and decided to give it a try. I wanted to make it colorful, so I started with a bright magenta ground color and made sure I let it show through till the end.
I like the results. I want to paint more doggie pictures now!

Exhibiting at Local Businesses: Starbucks

Exhibiting four of my acrylic paintings at a local businesses: Starbucks

Having businesses willing to showcase local artists in their premises is a true blessing.
I am lucky to be part of two organizations that coordinate art exhibits in local businesses: the Worthington Area Art League and the Dublin Area Art League, of which I'm the current president.

Exhibiting four of my acrylic paintings at a local businesses: Starbucks in Dublin, OH

Am member of the art league you can sign up for exhibits, one or two months at the time, depending on the location.

In March 2016 I have four of my paintings showcased at a local Starbucks.
The have a hanging system installed and the light is just phenomenal, it makes the paintings glow.

They business takes some kind of a risk opening up their walls to artists, because they have no say on who signs up and if the paintings are going to look good with their decor, but they are oh so nice all the time! Something to be very thankful for.

My paintings will be at the Dublin's Starbucks, 19 W Bridge St, Dublin, OH, until the end of March 2016.
