Do you ever have periods in which things go well and you are afraid to wake up?  I'm in such a period right now. Things are going well, and I am so afraid the it will end out of the blue, just like it started. But hey, in the meantime, I'm doing my best to enjoy every minute of it. Never waste something good, right? Home-life is going great and my artistic endeavor is giving me some satisfactions that I thought would never come. Not only people are buying my paintings, which is amazing all by itself - to know that they are willing to pay for the products of me having fun in the studio, and keep them in their home, where they look at them every day, how wonderful is that?? Also, I am now represented by a super nice art gallery, and the owner invited me to participate in a small group show of mixed media art. Yay! It was supposed to be a solo show for one of the other two artists but, being over-committed, she requested to have someone else to share the space with, and...

Marcia Evans Gallery has been featuring several of my smaller paintings since December, and they will be on view until Jan 29, 2018. Blessings come in many ways, and sometimes they take the form of a phone call offering an exhibit opportunity. I almost passed on this one, because the phone call came in the spring, at a time when I had way too much on my plate already, but luckily for me they persisted and emailed over the summer, and that time I said YES! : ) The Powell Fitness owner, Kim La Rosa is an energetic, fun, and inspiring person, and I am very thankful for the opportunity to have my art in her center for six months! She's celebrating the 12 year anniversary on October 20, I'm hanging that week and I'll get to be part of the celebration, how cool is that? Amazing things have been happening to me. One wall of the Dinsmore & Shohl LLP  - Legal Counsel lobby with some of my sky paintings A few months back I was contacted by a representative of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP  - Legal Counsel . She had seen my work online and asked if I could exhibit in their lobby. I went to see the space and loved it. It's a beautiful and big lobby with a nice hanging system that can fit several big paintings.   13 of my paintings are now on view in that great space. I am very thrilled that I got accepted to show at Inniswood gardens! It's an exhibit of my landscapes, 24 works in total, representing natural scenes and parks.   Yesterday there was the Meet the artist event, and I went there afraid that I would be taking home all the cookies because no one was coming, instead I came home with mostly empty trays and a huge smle on my face. Friends, fellow artists, and park visitors came to the reception, and raised a wave of love, good vibes and wonderfully kind comments on my paintings. What can I say? I have said it already and I am saying it again, this last year has been amazing for me. I had several opportunities coming up unexpected, and I am very glad that my mind was open to accept the surprises and last minute change of plans. The last great thing that happened: they invited me to show my sky paintings at the Nothwood ARTSpace here in Columbus. Of course I said yes right away, and now I'm busy getting ready to hang in less than two weeks. SUMMER SKIES will be on show from July 1st to August 15th 3016. We are having a reception on Friday July 1st, 6-8 pm. I am so happy, I can barely believe it! In the last few months I entered my paintings in a few judged exhibitions, and I have brought home several ribbons - which stand for awards received. It's amazing to me! Every time that I am deciding what to enter in a show I get attacked by hundreds of self-doubting dilemmas, and usually I ponder not entering at all. "54 S. High St." by Robie Benve. I was very nervous about this painting, done at the Dublin Paint Out, on a cold and rainy day, while I was very busy being the chair of the event. I was also intimidated by the caliber of the other artists that participated. Yet, I got an Honorable Mention award. :D So grateful! What if my work is the worst of the show? What if it's hung next of a wonderfully executed piece and all the flaws are even more evident? When it comes to expose my work to the public viewing, I become hyper sensitive. I look at pieces that I enjoyed painting and see things that I could have...

"Featherlike" 8"x10" Oil on masonite, framed Sold Here is my painting for today, a thin and colorful cloud that seems to have been sparsed by the wind. Sometimes I have a hard time coming up with a title, but this one has been in my mind from the start. Featherlike will go to the group of paintings that will be in my solo show in October (I know, isn't that awesome??) at the Cultural Arts Center: Sky High. This month few of my paintings are showing at a local Starbucks. I feel it: I am ready to sell my art. Yes, I've had price tags on my paintings when I entered them in exhibits. I have even had my own booth at the Dublin Art Fair - where I sold very little, but I as a first timer I was happy with that. Truth is: so far I've not pursued sales actively.  No marketing strategies, no talking about my art as a product, only as something I love to do. I'm becoming more and more proud of what I do, and my inventory is getting too big for my own walls. Now I think I am ready to explore ways to actually market my things. A couple of more pieces at the Starbucks. So, I have a crowd of questions in my mind. How do you sell your own art? What is the best way for a self-taught emergent artist to start selling? Where do I start? As amazing and relaxing as creating art is, there is something embarrassing about showing your art when there is a price tag on it. But ...
