My Two Paintings in the Dublin Art League Fall Show

Image
Since when I joined the Dublin Area Art League, in 2011, I have entered two paintings in the Spring Show and two in the Fall show, every year. The great thing about a local art league is that all levels of skill and professionalism are represented, every member is encouraged and supported, and the fact that you get to show your work to the public on a regular basis, really serves as a great incentive to get better and do more. One of the best parts of being a member is the opportunity to network with like-minded people, and that's why I love attending the meetings and the show receptions, where I get the opportunity to chat with all the other artists and art lovers. Here I am next to one of my oil paintings in the Dublin Area Art League Fall Show, "It's Good to Be Home" oil on Canvas 16"x32" I recently ended my two-year term as DAAL president. During that time I got to know and enjoy this art league even more. I was also the co-chair for th...

A Wonderful Day at the yART Event!

Image
Me setting up my booth at the yART 2015 What a great day. I worked hard to get ready, setup, and organize, but it was all worth it. I partecipated in the yART, a small local art fair, a low key event for which you don't need a fancy booth and all the shananigans that some bigger art fairs require. Nevertheless I had a nice setup, and I made quite an investment in frames, to have everything looking professional. My amount of work was multiplied by the fact that I also coordinated the adjacent booth, belonging to the Dublin Area Art League, that recently has kindly elected me its president. Getting the two things going and organized have taken some effort, but at the end I was overwhelmed by the great response from the members, the wonderful artwork that has been turned in, and the amazing look of the DAAL's booth. Entering Two Paintings in the DAAL Spring Show

Image
On left: "Thinking of You", 8"x10", oil on board. Available On right: "Refreshing", 8"x10", oil on board. Sold Since I joined the Dublin Area Art League in 2011, I have not skipped one spring or fall art show. It's always exciting to enter your paintings in an art exhibition, though it may be a little nerve wracking to put your art out there, open to judgement and comments. Even more when you know there will be a juror evaluating all the works and assigning prizes! The artworks entered in the DAAL shows are always very diverse: there are oil paintings, acrylic paintings, watercolors, drawing, photography, mixed media, and sometimes fabric work or sculpture. This time I am entering two oil paintings, both 8"x10", which is smaller than what I have usually entered, but I enjoyed painting them so much, I hope the public will enjoy looking at them. The show will be on display at the Dublin, OH Community Recreation Center ...

Exhibiting in Local Businesses

Image
For the months of December 2013 and January 2014 I'll have some of my art on show at Edward Jones Investments in Dublin, OH. Isn't it wonderful when businesses welcome and support local artists? Some businesses in Dublin, OH open their doors and lent their walls to members of the Dublin Area Art League. We all take turns showing our creations in these great locations. Being over the Holidays I get two months in a row.  Awesome! If you walk by when the offices are closed you can still peak in, and one of my paintings (View of Tulum) is right by the window, as you can see on the left.

Exhibiting My Art This Month

Image
My paintings on display at the Dublin Rec Center One of the pluses of being member of an art league is the opportunity to access different exhibition venues. As member of the Dublin Area Art League (Dublin, OH) I have the option to exhibit in different public locations. Last month my art was on the walls of the local Starbucks, this month at the Dublin Community Recreation Building. Here are a couple of shots of "my" wall at the Rec Center. My paintings on display at the Dublin Rec Center I love the amazing support artists get locally, from local businesses, fellow artists, and communities. It's great, and I recommend any artist to join art leagues and groups. It is always productive and to network with other artists; you can find inspiration and you get to know about lots of opportunities. Have a happy creative day! :)
